Ausbildung: learning a trade in Germany

Training contract

A contract signed by the company and by you. The Federal Employment Agency gives its approval during the procedure.

German level

A2 in general; B1 for qualified training, such as nursing. A confirmation from the company or vocational school can replace the certificate, but the embassy recommends attaching it.

Funds

The training salary serves as proof of funds. If it is not enough, you must top it up, for example with a blocked account.

Health insurance

With a German provider, valid from one week before the contract starts.

Submission

At VFS Global in Yaoundé (except purely school-based training), after registering on the official portal.

Registration

Online, on the official visa portal (Auslandsportal), for most study, training and work visas.

Submission

VFS Global in Yaoundé receives study applications (except scholarship holders and researchers) and vocational training applications; the decision rests with the embassy.

Visa fee

Paid at the counter against an official receipt, reduced rate under 18; VFS charges a service fee on top. Current amounts given in your quote.

Passport

Valid for at least 12 months, with at least two blank pages.

Language certificates

Only certificates from ALTE bodies are accepted (Goethe-Institut, telc, ÖSD, TestDaF, ECL), and the oldest module must be less than one year old.

Registration and submission are free. The embassy advises against agencies selling appointments: we do not do that. Our help covers understanding the rules and preparing your file.
